Heart of Iowa Big Brothers Big Sisters (HOIBBBS) is a mentorship program that, with grant funding from Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa, provided meaningful, no-cost experiences for Bigs and Littles throughout the year, strengthening relationships and creating lasting connections through mentorship.
Thanks to this funding, participants enjoyed a variety of activities together, including attending a hockey game at the Casey’s Center, improving swim skills, visiting a local ceramic paint studio, grabbing ice cream, and going to the movies. These experiences gave Bigs and Littles opportunities to bond, build trust, and create meaningful memories together.
The grant also helped support a large catered celebration where Littles, Bigs, friends, and family gathered together to celebrate the year. The event provided a special opportunity for Littles to introduce their Bigs to family members and share stories from their experiences together.
It was truly heartwarming to watch the Littles show off their Bigs to their families and share all the stories of their adventures together. It takes a village, and we couldn't provide these incredible experiences without the support of partners like you.

Through this funding, Variety impacted 275 children under the age of 18 by helping create opportunities for connection, mentorship, and belonging.
