From the very beginning, Rylie’s journey has been defined by determination, resilience, and heart. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, her family was told she might never walk or crawl. But Rylie had other plans.

Now 13 years old, she continues to defy expectations and show what’s possible.

Rylie’s journey with Variety began at age 10, when she received a new walker through the Mobility Program. As she had outgrown her previous equipment, she needed a walker that would better support her independence and keep up with her active life. This new walker helped Rylie maintain proper posture, build strength, improve endurance, and confidently navigate her home, school, and community. It also allowed her to continue participating in the activities she loves, like cheerleading and dance.

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, Rylie’s family was once told she might never walk or crawl. But from the very beginning, Rylie has been determined to write her own story.

Now 13 years old, she continues to defy expectations every single day.

Over time, Rylie has put in countless hours building her strength and independence. What started with small milestones has grown into something extraordinary, a young girl with big goals and the determination to reach them. So when Rylie shared that she wanted to join her school’s track team, it was a bold next step, and one she was ready to take.

To help make that dream possible, Rylie needed equipment tailored specifically to her abilities. Through Variety’s Mobility Program, she received a FrameRunner — an adaptive three-wheeled running frame with chest support that allows her to move safely and confidently using her legs. It’s the only one of its kind in Iowa, opening doors to opportunities that once felt out of reach.

With her FrameRunner, Rylie lined up at the starting line for her very first track meet — making history and inspiring everyone around her.

“Rylie is really passionate about track. She shows up to practice every single day, she’s incredibly positive, works hard, and never complains. Her determination is amazing to watch.”
