For thousands of Iowa children, poor vision creates obstacles in the classroom every day - often without anyone realizing that a simple pair of glasses could change everything.

That's why Variety – the Children's Charity of Iowa is proud to support Vision To Learn with a Variety grant, helping more children receive the vision care they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Vision To Learn brings its mobile vision clinics directly to schools in low-income communities, removing barriers like cost, transportation, and access to care that often prevent families from getting eye exams for their children. On board each mobile clinic, licensed eye doctors provide free vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams, and prescription glasses - all during the school day.

The impact is immediate.

When children can clearly see the board, read their assignments, and participate confidently in class, they gain more than improved eyesight. They gain confidence, independence, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Since launching in Iowa, Vision To Learn has screened more than 100,000 students, provided over 25,000 comprehensive eye exams, and distributed more than 21,000 pairs of prescription glasses. Each child served represents another student equipped with the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

More than 3 million children across the country go to school every day without the glasses they need. When children go to school hungry, we feed them. We make sure they have the books and school supplies they need. Why not glasses? Every child in every school, everywhere in the country, should have the glasses they need to succeed in school and in life.
