Three-year-old Kendalyn recently received a new adaptive bike, made possible by funds raised at Lyness Fest in Ryan, Iowa.

We want to express our extreme thanks to both Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa and The Lyness Fest for gifting our daughter, Kendalyn Long, her very own pink Rifton Adaptive Tricycle. This trike means the absolute world to our family. Kendalyn loves being pushed on it, and it has quickly become one of her favorite activities.

Kendalyn is a vibrant and joyful three-year-old who faces significant medical challenges. She experienced brain hemorrhages and seizures in her first days of life, leading to four brain surgeries. She is also diagnosed with Level 4/5 Mixed Tone Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, which affects her mobility and communication, and has recently developed Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a form of epilepsy. Despite these challenges, Kendalyn’s smile and joyful spirit brighten the lives of everyone around her!

Kendalyn and her family

The new adaptive tricycle gives Kendalyn the ability to ride alongside her siblings and experience the simple joy of biking, an activity most families take for granted. Her parents shared that this trike has brought their family a renewed sense of happiness and togetherness.

"We cannot express enough how thankful we are. This Rifton Adaptive Tricycle is a true blessing for our daughter, Kendalyn. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa and The Lyness Fest."
