In 2016, Logan’s life changed when he received his first piece of specialized mobility equipment from Variety – and with it, he got to meet Variety supporter and Executive Chairman of Principal Financial Group, Dan Houston. That moment sparked a connection, and nearly a decade later, the two reunited last year during the Principal Charity Classic to capture another photo together, celebrating how far Logan has come (and how much he has grown!).

Now 15 years old, Logan continues to navigate life with strength and determination. He lives with an undiagnosed condition that weakens his muscles and drains his energy, making everyday activities a constant challenge. But thanks to Variety’s Mobility Program, Logan received a second transformative gift last May: an adaptive stroller. And over the past year, it’s made all the difference.

“Logan is a 15-year-old medical mystery. He fights an unknown disease that leaves his muscles weak and tired, and a body that wears out on him. When we were gifted his adaptive stroller, life got easier for him. He can go and be a part of everything - walk when he has the energy, ride when he doesn’t, and sleep when he needs to.”

The family recently took a dream trip to Florida to help Logan check off items from his bucket list. His adaptive stroller became an essential part of the adventure. “The stroller was a huge blessing on this trip,” his mom explained. “It allowed us to not worry about how he was going to get from point A to B, or if he was going to have enough energy to wait in line. This stroller allows him to be anywhere with us, no matter how he’s feeling at any given moment. We are beyond blessed and thankful for Variety.”

About Variety’s Mobility Program:
Variety empowers children living with special needs by providing the mobility equipment they need to build confidence, gain independence, and actively participate in their communities. Through specialized bicycles, gait trainers, standers, strollers, and more, Variety helps bring joy and important physical and therapeutic benefits to families across the state. Because this equipment is often expensive and rarely covered by insurance, Variety partners with physical therapists to identify children who would thrive with the help of these life-changing mobility tools.
