Child, Adolescent, and Parent Support (CAPS) in Marshalltown is dedicated to strengthening families by connecting them to essential resources and supporting them through life’s challenges. CAPS believes that every family has strengths, and by building on those strengths, families can create home environments where children are safe, supported, and set up for success.
One of CAPS’ most impactful programs is The Nest, an incentive-based program designed to support families with young children. Through participation in educational and supportive services, families earn points they can redeem for new, essential baby items—such as diapers, wipes, and car seats—helping ensure their children’s basic health and safety needs are met.
Thanks to a Variety Grant, CAPS was able to purchase critical health and safety items for The Nest. This funding helps keep shelves stocked with necessities that many families would otherwise struggle to afford, easing financial stress while promoting safe and healthy home environments for low-income families in Marshall County.
“The Nest program is such an important resource in our community. The financial support from Variety ensures that we can continue providing items that promote safety, stability, and well-being for the families we serve. It is truly an honor to be selected as a grant recipient.”
Each year, The Nest serves hundreds of income-eligible families in Marshall County. The program is made possible through strong partnerships with local organizations and the generosity of donors who believe in the power of community support. Together, these collaborations demonstrate how working collectively can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.
Support from organizations like Variety – the Children’s Charity helps ensure that families don’t have to face challenges alone - and that children have the safe, healthy start they deserve.
