Access to advanced medical technology can make a meaningful difference in both comfort and care for expectant mothers.
Thanks to a grant from Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa, Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion has enhanced its Maternity Center with the GE Healthcare Novii+ Wireless Patch System, a beltless, non-invasive monitoring solution for both mother and baby.
The Novii+ system allows providers to monitor fetal heart rate, maternal heart rate, and uterine activity as early as 34 weeks and throughout labor, all while giving mothers the freedom to move comfortably. Unlike traditional monitoring methods, this wireless technology supports a more flexible and personalized birth experience.
Patients really enjoy the Novii+ monitoring system. It gives them the freedom to be up and moving and not confined to the bed. The wireless monitoring system allows patients to follow their birth plans because of the added mobility it provides.
Brittney Schafer, OB Leader
With the ability to move, change positions, and even use tools like birthing balls, step stools, or whirlpool tubs during labor, mothers are experiencing increased comfort and greater control throughout the process. Staff are also able to better support and educate patients on positioning techniques while continuously monitoring both mom and baby.
By investing in innovative solutions like the Novii+ system, Variety is helping Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion provide an improved, more empowering experience for mothers, supporting healthier outcomes and more positive birth stories for families in their care.
