Friendship Ball Held for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Best Buddies Iowa was able to host their Annual Friendship Ball on April 1, thanks to the funding support from Variety - the Childrens Charity. Best Buddies Iowa is a nonprofit organization serving the state of Iowa by supporting youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities through their one-to-one friendship programs.

Over 400 Iowa buddies and peers danced the night away at Adventureland! Sometimes a traditional school dance is not accessible for participants, so offering them a chance to attend a dance in a safe and inclusive space allows them to have a traditional dance experience.

"Best Buddies Iowa is profoundly thankful for the support we received from Variety to host this event. It is important to us as an organization to have opportunities for our Buddies to congregate in an inclusive environment. By covering the costs of this event, our Buddies and their peers can attend at no cost to them. In 2023, we had over 400 students from across the State join us. This would not have been possible without the support of Variety." - Carrie Mueller, State Director.
