Over $150,000 has been awarded by Variety – the Children’s Charity to 18 children’s organizations in eastern Iowa. Funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well-being of children in the state.
“Variety is a steadfast supporter of youth in eastern Iowa and is strongly devoted to raising dollars to provide hope, opportunity and care to children,” said Chris Neal, past chair of Variety - the Children’s Charity’s Eastern Iowa Board of Directors. “We are proud of our longstanding partnerships, as well as new initiatives, that enable us to help thousands of children reach their full potential every day.”
Variety grants provide funding for capital projects, essential medical equipment, shelters, inclusive playgrounds, Variety vans and more. Organizations that receive Variety grants range in size and focus, but all share the goal of bettering the lives of children in eastern Iowa.
“Variety is committed to positively impacting children in eastern Iowa, and as a direct result of the generosity from our donors, we are able to do that,” said Carissa Johnson, eastern Iowa director of Variety – the Children’s Charity. “Variety’s grant dollars provide equipment and essential program support to organizations throughout Iowa and directly in eastern Iowa, helping thousands of children live their brightest lives.”
The grant-making process is advised by a panel of community board members and volunteers who review applications from each organization. Funding priority is given to programs that serve the greatest needs and help the greatest number of children.
